Skin Care Review: Avene Diacneal Acne Treatment
|
by Robin K, Minneapolis, MN USA
Rating Good
Benefits
Clears up pimples with continued use, is also an effective anti-aging treatment
Drawbacks
Must be spread around very quickly b/c it absorbs quickly, can cause dryness.
Details This treatment incluede 0.1% retinaldehyde and 6% glycolic acid, so it is effective both for its intended purpose (anti-acne), but also for anti-aging. It's primary active ingredient, retinaldehyde, is significantly more gentle than other retinoids, such as retinol. I have been using this product for about three weeks and it has indeed cleared up my skin after a period of brief purging in which several comedones came to the surface. It also gives my skin a nice pinkish "glow," and has not dried me out terribly, although if you are prone to extreme dryness, then that is a possibility with this product. Its consistency is a yellow, rather runny, cream-gel, and it does have an added fragrance that some have said is icky, but I don't find it too bad. All in all, a very impressive product, and most likely I will repurchase.
Conclusions
This is an effective anti-acne treatment, but you should expect a purging period.
