Skin Care Review: Retin-A
|
by Withheld, Taunton UK
Rating No effect
Benefits
I suffer from moderate acne. I found Retin-A mildly improved it but far from cured it.
Drawbacks
Extremely dry and senstive skin, immflammation of face and neck, peeling and flaking.
Details I first started using Retin-A about 4 years ago (I am now 15). At first the side effects were awful. My face became inflammed and red and the skin felt sore and irritated. After about 2 weeks, my nose began to peel and my skin became exceedingly dry, flakey and senstive. Any use of moisturisers made it sting and turn even redder. It made a very slight improvement on my acne, but barely noticable. Now, 4 years on, I think my skin has developed an immunity to Retin-A but I don't want to discontinue using it incase my acne flares up even worse. It still makes my skin very dry but I keep this under control by using a natural nettle skin cream.
Conclusions
May improve mild acne but for those who suffer badly, I doubt it will do much.
