Skin Care Review: Tazorac
|
by Marlene
Rating Good
Benefits
Effective treatment for the reduction and prevention of acne
Drawbacks
Severe dryness, some irritation, flushed skin, initial exacerbation of symptoms
Details I experienced a reduction of acne after 3 to 4 months. My face was clear after approximately 8 months with occasional pimples every month. After a year, I used the medication once a week to sustained effect. Eventually, I discovered that two months was the maximum period of time I could forego application before acne symptoms returned.
The symptoms did appear to worsen for the first month of use, resulting in severe dryness and some irritation. The dermatologist noted that applying moisturizer and sunscreen was especially required with use.
Overall, Tazorac is an effective treatment of acne with temporary drawbacks.
Conclusions
Effective. Expect dryness and irritation for 1-2 months and combat with moisturizer.
