Rating Good
Benefits
effective, economical benzoyl peroxide gel for acne
Drawbacks
can cause peeling initially
Details I started using BP Gel after seeing positive reviews of The Regimen, a very simple acne treatment program described in acne.org. The basic premise is that Benzyol Peroxide, the old standby for topical acne treatments, is effective if used the right way and in the proper quantity. Previously I was using Neutrogena's On The Spot, which also gave good results but was prohibitively expensive. Compared with Neutrogena, the BP Gel also seems to have less of an issue of clumping when makeup is applied over the face. The one downside I see is quite a bit of peeling during the initial 2 weeks of application. This does go away once the skin adapts. My face is noticeably clearer since using the gel.
Conclusions
Effective when used as directed. Some peeling initially.
