Skin Care Review: Differin

Benefits
Clears break outs, prevents acne and progression

Details
I was prescribed Differen (adapalene) Gel .1% about 4yrs. ago by my dermatologist. It was brand new on the market and I was experiencing very troublesome breakouts around my mouth and forehead. This worked like a charm for me. And, because I am alergic to E-Mycin and all related derivatives (which are very often used to treat acne eg. Cleocin), it was a godsend for my combination skin. It did not create the dryness that accompanied so many other acne remedies I had tried.

I use it on full blown pimples/acne and when I feel or see the preliminary signs of any type of breakout I can anticipate. It stops an oncoming breakout dead in its tracks and makes full blown breakouts subside and virtually disappear within a max of 2-3 days. If I catch a breakout in the preliminary stage, and apply the Differin, it will be gone the next morning. I am 35 yrs old and wish this had been made abvaliabe to me long ago. Differin is oderless and colorless. It does not hurt when it is applied to even severly irritated acne (in my experience it brings relief). Because I usually only apply this like a spot treatment and don't need it continually, I cannot attest to whether Differin reduces wrinkles as another reviewer's doctor suggested. This has sparked my curiousity. I believe I will test an area on my forehead to see if continual application reduces the expression lines.

My best advice to those without insurance is to ask for samples because they are available from the dermatologist.

Additionally, KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF YOUR FACE!!!. This will most certainly help any problem with acne you are experiencing and especially those problems around the lower area of your face.

Conclusions
Differin works very well for moderately acne prone skin in my experience.
