Skin Care Review: PanOxyl Gel 5%

Rating Adverse Effects
Benefits
Uncertain effect on acne
Drawbacks
Irritates facial skin
Details I used PanOxyl 5% for a few weeks, having experienced a few acne pimples on the lower part of my face. It was difficult to be sure or establish whether the active ingredients were effective in treating the specific problem of acne. But of most concern and visibility was the resulting fact that the skin on the facial area became very irritated and sore for a number of days. In addition the skin became wrinkled and looked about one hundred years old in the immediate area where the product had been applied. This was the cause of significant concern, because it was not possible to tell or be sure if the effect would be long-lasting or what duration and long-term effect it would have. Fortunately and to my great relief, the situation was resolved when the skin began peeling off about a week later, leaving no trace of the problem and eventuating in a full recovery. Evidently, however, I would not recommend this product for the reasons given here.
Conclusions
not a good idea, at all.
