Skin Care Review: Niacinamide gel 4%
|
by Malaika, Broomfield CO, CO USA
Rating Excellent
Benefits
Clears acne, reduces pore size, and thickens skin.
Drawbacks
Messy. Leaves white streaks. Can only do it at night before bed time.
Details I had read the study conducted by Shalita, Smith, Parish, Sofman and Chalker (1995) in the International Journal of Dermatalogy, that claimed that a 4% application of niacinimide was more effective than 1% clindamycin acne formula. I was pretty convinced by the evidence. I went to the local Whole Foods and purchased a $9.00 bottle of niacinimide powder tablets (500 mg) and made my own %4 solution using organic aloe vera gel($12.00) that was only thickened by carragenan without any other herbal fillers or fragrance enhancers. Aloe vera is a great transdermal carrier. I mixed 5 tablets with 2 ounces of aloe vera gel with a hand held blender and applied with a disinfected makeup brush.
Conclusions
I am absolutely flabbergasted. It works!! And I didn't have to get a prescription!
