Skin Care Review: Murad Acne Complex

by Cathrine L

Rating
Adverse Effects

Benefits
Stops acne breakouts

Drawbacks
Causes severe skin irritation, swelling, and rash

Details
My suite-mate my Freshman year of college had Murad facial cleanser in the shower that we shared, and I used it for about 3 weeks at the very end of that school year. I remember liking it because my skin was clearing up, but I never connected Murad to the skin irritation I was experiencing at that time until later. During that same time, I had noticed that my skin was always very itchy, after a while I started to develop a rash. For the rest of the summer, I was on vacation so I did not use Murad and my rash went away. Because I still had a good impression of Murad, I had my mom buy me the 60 day pack from Sephora with the 3 steps and the acne treatment. When I was using it (only for about a week - I'm terrible at routines), I also noticed a rash, but I attributed it to the weather because it was hot and dry. It wasn't until now that I realized it is the Murad that is causing this issue. My rash went away and so did the irritation, and just last night I saw a commercial on TV for Murad so I decided to start using it again. Immediately this time after doing the three steps, my face puffed up red and became extremely itchy. My face is still itchy after the whole day. I looked it up, and I've seen LOADS of people online saying the same thing. The commercials are wrong, don't listen to them, because Murad makes your face dry, itchy, SWOLLEN, and RED. I liked my skin better before! The rash is terrible btw. If I have to acknowledge a good thing about it, I guess I haven't broken out since I used it last night.

Conclusions
Not recommended.
