I started using Proactiv in 2003 before my wedding. I had moderate acne and combination skin. It worked better than anything I have ever used. I stopped using it after the wedding because of the price, but went back to it a year later because I couldn't find anything else that worked as well. What I think a lot of people who complain about the product being overly drying don't realize is that you MUST use a moisturizer with it. The "repairing lotion" is NOT a moisturizer. After using all three steps, use a good moisturizer, even if you have oily skin. Everyone needs to moisturize their skin. I recommend Estee Lauder DayWear Plus. It's pricey as well, buts lasts a long time and it's worth it. Neutrogena has some good moisturizers as well.

Conclusions
I definitely recommend giving Proactiv a chance, but don't forget your moisturizer!
