Skin Care Review: Amoxicillin for Acne
|
by Anonymous
Rating Excellent
Benefits
Very effective in cutting back on breakouts.
Drawbacks
Long-term use of antibiotics is not ideal (body builds resistance).
Details I am a white, female, college student with oily skin and persistent acne. My acne started about 7-8 years ago but was pretty mild. It got worse a few years ago, and thats when I started taking amoxicillin. It cleared up very fast, and I have not had another serious breakout since I started taking it. Last month I ran out of my amoxicillin and thought I would see how my skin was without taking it. I ended up having a pretty major breakout. I went right back on, and a week later my skin was completely clear again. I would say that amoxicillin is a good treatment to use if your skin is not responding to topical treatments. There are more powerful options though.
Conclusions
I recommend amoxicillin as a way to manage acne .
