Skin Care Review: Ultraceuticals Ultra C Facial Treatment
|
by Brigette Traversa, melbourne, victoria australia
Rating Excellent
Benefits
Contains 23% micronised vitamin C (ascorbic acid) formulated in a hydrophobic vehicle
Drawbacks
Suitable for nightly use only. May cause irritation in sensitive individuals
Details I have been using this product nightly for the past few months and highly recommend it. As already stated, it contains a variety of active ingredients, all of which possess anti-oxidant activity, and the most attractive feature is that the hydrophobic (i.. it contains no water) vehicle ensures longer stability of the vitamin C (l-ascorbic acid). As it is very thick, you only need a pea-sized amount for the entire face. Almost within one week, skin clarity improved. After continued use, signs of photodamage (i.e. dry, wrinkled skin) visibly reduced and skin texture and tone markedly improved. However, as it is quite acidic, it may cause slight irritation and stinging - particularly in areas where skin is broken. These side effects are reduced if you apply it sparingly every second night to begin with and they also disappear after continued use (i.e. > 1 week).
Conclusions
An excellent product for photodamaged skin
Price (paid by reviewer) approx. $75
