Skin Care Review: Tretinoin Gel USP, Generic
|
by Steven W. States, Salem, OR, USA
Rating Excellent
Benefits
Excellent Wrinkle Reduction.
Drawbacks
Redness, Flaking, Burning, Sores.
Details I have extensive photo-damage from working as a forest fire fighter in Alaska for many years with almost 24/7 daylight. After using .1% gel for 3 weeks (starting every 3 days and now 4-5 times a week) everyone (even my 16 year old son) notices a difference. I feel younger and better because I know that I look better. Geting over the initial adverse side effects was the hardest but now I only flake and have tight skin but a moisurizer helps. Keep this stuff away from your lips as it will cause cold sores or cold sore like injuries. Absolutely do not get this stuff in your eyes and if you do wash your eyeballs off in the shower gently, of course. At least for me, a 52 year old man with sun damage, this stuff has been a godsend. I would start with the lowest dose, .025%, once a week and then work up to once a day over time. However, your dermatologist knows best, although mine was absolutely clueless and I had to do all of my own research on the Internet by Googling "Tretinoin" "Renova" "Retin-A", etc., etc., etc.
Conclusions
For Photo-damage try Tretinoin but start slow and look only to the long run.
