Skin Care Review: Retin-a Micro 0.04%
|
by Holly Furne, MD USA
Rating Good
Benefits
clears acne lesions, fades scars, diminishes fine lines
Drawbacks
can be drying, may make my early rosacea on nose worse
Details I am 49 with oily skin, clogged pores, breakouts, wrinkles and sagging! I have used Retin-A Micro for 1.5 yrs and note that it evens skin tone, reduces scarring, and has helped with wrinkles on forehead, but not "frown lines" which I have had to treat with Botox or Restylane. I use every other day in dead of winter but daily or twice daily in summer. I also use a high strength Vitamin C in the morning with moisturizer, and recommend an alpha-hydroxy cleanser once or twice daily, with mild cleanser the other cleansing during winter. Retin-A can be used on crow's feet with moisturizer with Vitamin C or B complex. A little goes a long way, so a tube lasts a long time, which is important, given the cost. Many prescription plans will pay for it for acne, scarring, or photoaging problems.
Conclusions
Recommend this highly, but would use Renova for dry skin patients.
