Skin Care Review: Radiesse
|
by Susie , USA
Rating Adverse Effects
Benefits
almost eliminated my nasolabial folds
Drawbacks
expensive, rash, did not last as long as indicated
Details I have fair, thin sensitive skin and am in my mid 50's. My doctor injected Radiesse into my nasolabial folds and marionette lines from the corners of my mouth to my chin. I selected Radiesse because it was supposed to last 18 to 24 months, at least over a year, and since I bruise easily it was worth the extra cost to have a proceedure last longer. Restylane supposedly lasts about 6 mouths.
My doctor gave me a dental block which almost eliminated the pain of injection but it does make you talk funny for a few hours afterwards. The lines were gone but a few days later I developed small red bumps along the injection sites. He prescribed a topical steroid cream that did not work very well. Makeup covered the bumps fairly well but I kept them until three months after the injection I used a topical antibiotic and it cleared right up. The effect now looked good but it only lasted about 8-9 months from the injection time.
Conclusions
Did not live up to its promises and had a reaction. Be careful!
