Skin Care Review: Titan laser
|
by Kate , Menlo Park, CA, United States
Rating Satisfactory
Benefits
Short procedure, no downtime, no pain after procedure.
Drawbacks
Can be very painful, is expensive, results can really vary person to person
Details This is one of the newer laser treatments, thought to be better than thermage in that it has less potential to decrease fat under the skin and is less painful. My doctor didn't use any numbing creme and I found it incredibly painful. The feeling was like a tiny bee sting for every pulse and the pulses are over 100. I dreaded the half hour treatment and was so happy when it was over. You might request some kind of light anesthetic before treatment--I think doctors are catching on that for some people this really hurts.
There is absolutely no downtime with this procedure. I really don't know if it worked for me. There's a plumping of the skin that you notice intially but that wears off in a day. My skin hardly seems much tighter and I've been using products as well, which may be muddying the results. My guess is that I'm a "non-responder." All in all this treatment is a crapshoot, it may help somewhat, it may do absolutely nothing.
Conclusions
Comparison shop if you want to take the plunge--the rates really vary per provider.
