Skin Care Review: Patricia Wexler M.D. MMPi Skin Regenerating Serum
|
by S. Cassady
Rating Adverse Effects
Benefits
anti-aging - MMPi is said to slow the breakdown of collagen in the skin.
Drawbacks
The product is heavy and made me break out. It also leaves a pink cast to your skin.
Details As I mentioned above, this product, which garnered rave reviews on sites such as Futurederm.com, is very heavy. It is less a serum and more of an ointment. At first, I was undeterred by this because my skin is very dry. However, shortly after including this product in my regimen (along with the P. Wexler anti-aging moisturizer SPF 30) I began to break out. The pimples were small but numerous and very annoying. Also, the product leaves a pink cast to the skin... so I ended up looking blotchy and red all the time. Not a great look, to say the least.
I can't speak to the product's anti-aging capabilities. As I said, the active ingredient and this product in general has received some good press. I did not, however, use the product long enough to notice any effects. Now it is just a big useless jar of wasted money in my medicine cabinet. I guess I should be glad I didn't pay full price! Better to waste $45 than $150, right? guh.
Conclusions
I think I'd save my money and wait until someone comes up with a better alternative.
Price (paid by reviewer) $45 (usually $150)
