Skin Care Review: SkinCeuticals Vitamin C Serum 10

Rating Adverse Effects
Benefits
None
Drawbacks
Oxidizes rapidly, expensive
Details This product contains 10% L-Ascorbic Acid. It is intended to be an antioxidant treatment to prevent wrinkles. I'm 34 years old. During the approx. one year I have used it, I have actually gained considerably more wrinkles. And now I think I know why. I had been using it for a great deal of time after it turned a dark yellow/brown color - this is due to oxidization. I did not know until recently that once it oxidizes it not only loses it's effectiveness, it can actually have the opposite effect! This is according to this website as well as others containing skin care information. However, the label on the bottle and SkinCeuticals' website states that "L-Abscorbic Acid will oxidize and darken with time, but will remain effective." I have also had a child over the past year and am wondering if this can possibly contribute to the aging process? Regardless, I am not taking any chances and the Serum 10 is going into the trash.
Conclusions
Not worth risking a negative effect.
Price (paid by reviewer) Approx. $55
