Skin Care Review: Peter Thomas Roth Beta Hydroxy Acid 2% Acne Wash
|
by Agatha Lenartowicz, Princeton, NJ, USA
Rating Excellent
Benefits
This gel is a mild acid cleanser that works well against acne breakouts.
Drawbacks
If overused it will cause drying, particularly on already dry skin.
Details This is a great product - it'a a light beta-hydroxy formulation that helps cleanse skin while reducing outbreaks of acne. For mild effects can be used just a few times a week - I have used it in the evenings only and have seen great results. It's a light gel that foams up with water - and requires the usual scrub time. It won't work well if time is not taken to let the gel work (i.e., 30 sec face wash). But this is true of any cleanser - particularly if it contains a chemical active agent. It feels light on the skin - does not have a particular scent and washes off without leaving residue. It does leave the skin fairly tight and refreshed. Since it is a beta-hydroxy acid - even in light concentration - it will dry skin if overused. This is a problem for combination skin - it can control the T-zone but cause drying in the cheeks and near the ears. It's best used in moderation or as needed.
Conclusions
This is a great product - very simple and effective.
