Skin Care Review: Citric acid peel
|
by Eric Ellis, miami, FL, u.s.
Rating Excellent
Benefits
thicker skin, reduced deep wrinkles
Drawbacks
burning sensation
Details I purchased citric acid at my local health food store about two months ago. Originaly I bought it because I was curious to see if, when added to my drinks, it would quench the cravings I somtimes get for acidic drinks such as sodas and lemon aid. Shortly after buying it I read Dr. Todorov's web page concerning alpha hydroxy acids (citric acid happens to be an AHA). I was happily suprised to learn that ten cents worth of citric acid could be used to reduce wrinkles. I haphazardly mixed various stenghts of citric acid and water and applied them once daily to the left side of my forehead for one week. By the end of the week I thought that it was not working (except for some mild peeling) so I stopped using it. Several days after I had stopped usage of it my friend and I noticed the skin on the side of my face that I had put the acid on was slightly thicker and the two distinct wrinkles on my forehead had decreasd in appearane slightly - amazing for less than two weeks of use!
Conclusions
I am thrilled that such a simple and inexpensive solution can produce such great results.
