Skin Care Review: TCA medium depth peel
|
by SDappen, San Francisco, CA USA
Rating Excellent
Benefits
Immediate lessening of fine lines, complete removal of brown spotting due to sun damage
Drawbacks
5-10 days downtime, the acid creates a "second-degree" burn on skin, which can be painful
Details I have had this done on both my arms and face; it's important to go to a dermatotgist for this treatment. Having the initial procedure can hurt a bit; the acid basically creates a second degree burn on you skin, causing the top layer to dry and peel completely. I also use Retin-A daily on my face and this apparently preps the skin for the TCA peel, resulting in a very smooth, even skin tone post peel. Both the facial and the arm peel diminished brown spotting due to sun damage. Had great improvement of fine lines on my face. I can now go without foundation or tinted moisturizer and look great. Be prepared to stay out of the public eye for about a week; day 3-5 can be especially unattractive as your skin will be peeling off in sheets! That said, I'm sold on this; I'm doing both arms and face one more time, in about 3 months, then plan to follow up every other year.
Conclusions
The minor discomfort and "time out required are more than worth the improvement.
