Skin Care Review: Peter Thomas Roth Glycolic Acid Peels
|
by Michele Tomson
Rating Good
Benefits
decrease fine lines, wrinkle, hyperpigmentation. increase collagen and skin elasticity.
Drawbacks
drawbacks are increased skin sensitivity to sunlight and irritation.
Details I have used glycolic acid peels in various strengths over many years. I have a tendency to not be disciplined about strict skin care regimens, so I tend to prefer higher strength, fast acting peels than to mess with consistent lower strength products over many months. My understanding is that products with less than an 8% glycolic solution are basically worthless in regards to anti-aging. I have used up to a 40% glycolic solution once a week for a month and gotten good results. You only have to leave the product on the skin for 2-5 minutes to get results. There is immediate exfoliation resulting in smoother, fresher, 'glowier' skin. Hyperpigmentatio is reduced over several treatments.
Conclusions
pros - increased collagen and skin thickness. decreases in fine lines.
