Hydroquinone worked well as a skin lightener for me, combined with retin A and a glycolic acid peel. I have experienced no side effects, such as irritation or darkening of skin that can sometimes occur. It is also extremely cost effective. I have used both 2% and 4% formulations. I am using 4% from a tub and the 2% was in a tube. I have found the 4% to be less effective. I believe this is due to its exposure to air, unlike the one packaged in the tube. I will continue to purcase and use this product to maintain even skin and also gradually lighten it.
