Details I started out the procedure with some time in the steam bath followed by a warm shower. The technician performing the facial did something called “deep pore cleansing” which basically was just squeezing the skin around my nose to force sebum to the surface. The process was not uncomfortable. She then applied some kind of cleaner and scrub that seemed to open up the pores a little more. Then she applied the glycolic cream to my face and neck. It stung a little but quickly became comfortable. The stinging was most likely the result of having shaved that morning. They told me when I checked in that the person booking the appointment should have told me not to shave. After a couple of minutes, the technician removed the glycolic cream and then applied a mask. The mask felt much thicker and had more texture. She then performed a head and shoulder massage. I was then told to rest while the mask took effect. After ten minutes or so, they removed the mask and applied a moisturizer. Immediately after the procedure I noticed a lot of raised areas that my wife said was the normal surfacing of material in the pores. The areas seemed to be inflammation resulting from irritation rather than infection. It’s now been 36 hours since the procedure and many of the raised areas have subsided and my face does appear to cleaner and smoother. Overall, I would say this was a nice, relaxing experience but for the cost. There are certainly much cheaper ways to get the same effect although this has raised my interest in skin care. There is nothing like looking at a magnifying mirror to really drive home the importance of skin care.
