When bleaching your teeth, do not eat, drink or smoke 30 minutes prior to bleaching and also after you are finished, do not smoke, eat or drink anything 30 minutes after. This allows the microscopic craters in your teeth to close up and not absorb stains. You should brush your teeth 30 minutes prior and immediately after removing dental trays, and rinse your mouth out well. The only place I know that gives these specific instructions, is on the box of NightWhite Excel 22% peroxide from my dentist office. The Rembrandt 30% peroxide box does not tell you this, but my dentist totally encourages the same for any whitening process of your teeth. Also avoid dark sodas, tea and coffee if you can, otherwise you definitely will need to do a touch up in 6 months, but a quick 1 or 2 application touchup is all that is needed, you don't have to do the week thing.
