Beauty Tip: Whitening teeth inexpensively
|
submitted by Marcia Duffy, Keene, NH USA
Tip description / details: Instead of buying expensive teeth whitening products (or going to my dentist for even more expensive treatments), I buy a $2 bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide 3% topical solution (found in any drug store). While it is usually used as a first aid antiseptic, it is also a "debriding agent" (i.e. helps heal wounds) and can be used as a gargle or rinse when you have a sore throat. One interesting aspect of hydrogen peroxide is that it is the one agent used in all teeth whitening products!
Ingredients: Hydrogen peroxide 3%
How to prepare: What I do is fill my mouth with hydrogen peroxide and swish away for about a minute after I brush my teeth (it will bubble!) before I go to bed... and then spit out. Some of the hydrogen peroxide will be left on your teeth, and I just spit out the excess.
How to use: I use once a day at night before bed.
Results (observed by submitter): Whiter teeth!
Costs involved: $2
