Hair Care Tip: Shea butter hair mask
|
submitted by Jessica
Tip description / details: I did some research online and made up this recipe for my weak and brittle hair. My hair has been breaking and dropping at a faster rate ever since I straightened it and shea butter has been touted as a wonder salve. In addition to olive oil and senna, which is a common haircare ingredient, I also use olive oil.
Ingredients: 1 tsp Shea butter; 1 tsp senna (henna) powder; 1/2 - 1 tsp olive oil (spreading consistency)
How to prepare: Mix Shea butter with senna powder and add olive oil till a spreading consistency is achieved. (remember, a little goes a long way!)
How to use: Spread the concoction evenly over he whole head paying attention to the hair ends. cover with a shower cap and warm towel (optional) for minimum 5 mins and wash thoroughly with shampoo.
Note: henna may impart a slight reddish orange tinge on the hair but not senna.
Results (observed by submitter): I have tried this treatment for about 3 weeks constantly 1-2 times a week and I have observed that my hair is easier to style and less prone to breakage. There are also considerably less flyaways and overall manageable
Costs involved: $1
