Personal Care Tip: Blackhead extraction

submitted by Niamh Mundell, Melbourne, VA Australia

Tip description / details:
To extract blackheads with minimal trauma, hold your face over a bowl of steaming hot water (not so close you burn your skin) for about 15 minutes. Then using a tissue to cover your finger nails, gently squeeze out any obvious blackheads. Do not persist with stubborn blackheads, as you may cause damage. Follow up with a very gentle cleanser and light moisturizer.

Ingredients:
Very hot water, towel, tissues, mirror

How to prepare:
Boil half to one liter of water. Pour into a large bowl.

How to use:
Place a towel over your head to prevent the steam from escaping and put your face over the bowl for ten to 15 minutes.

Results (observed by submitter):
Great, as long as extraction is gentle.

Costs involved:
none
