I am a 45 year-old woman who has been taking omega 3, 6 and 9 essential fatty acid (EFA) supplements for approximately 5 years. This is skin care from the inside. Omega 3 fatty acids are also found in many food items (salmon, nuts, flax seed) that are highly regarded as a corner stone to healthy skin. There are a variety of ways to increase your intake of these EFA: fish oil, some vegetable oils (flax seed, borage and primrose oils), flax seed cereals or eating more fish with high EFA content. However, I find taking one tablespoon a day of a vegetarian mix of EFA (available in health food stores) to work well. I have found that my skin is more supple and less prone to dryness.
