Skin Care Tip: Don't forget to moisturize your hands

submitted by Anonymous

During winter time, it is very easy to get hands so dry that they crack and bleed. To avoid or mitigate that, I always have to tell myself to not forget my hands when moisturizing. After all, of all the body parts, they're what gets washed the most!

These are the tips I use to prevent dry bleeding hands:

1) Keep a hand cream/lotion in the car (Vaseline works and is cheap to boot, use generic for most cost savings).

2) If at home often, switch to a moisturizing cleanser for hand washing. Use bath oil cleanser if you have to!

3) For bedtime (this is a MUST for me), slather hands with a lotion that absorbs/sinks in, followed by barrier that prevents water loss, e.g. hand lotion containing borage oil followed with pure petroleum jelly over it. Doing so allows me to skip having to wear gloves at night.
