Skin Care Tip: Fish oil for skin
|
submitted by chris brown
Tip description / details: Every morning along with my JarrowSil (Silica), I drink a teaspoon of fish oil in a short glass of V-8. It's a way to mask the taste of these not-so-great tasting supplements, and I know I really notice a difference in my skin hydration level when I use the fish oil. I live in the desert, am 43, smoked for years, and so keeping my skin hydrated is key to staving off the aging process. In addition, all I read about these days in skincare is the import of omega oils, particularly Omega 3 (versus 6 or 9, the latter of which is slightly controversial in terms of the right amount to take). Sticking with the fish oil I get at the health store gives me Omega 3 oil without having to swallow a handful of pills. Whole Foods didn't have fish oil - all they had was flax oil, which I have read is not quite as good.

Results (observed by submitter): More hydrated skin, more elasticity, and less tendency to "dry out" at the end of the day as I ususally do when I use moisturizer alone.
Costs involved: varies, look for pharmaeceutical grade
