I have suffered from redness of the face for over 10-years (I am currently 43). Although I am diagnosed with rosacea, I did not have the acne many others have reported. I have tried Metrocream and over the counter products, none of which worked. Additionally, I am well versed in avoiding various triggers. I have finally found an approach, which has helped me dramatically. First, one year ago I began with six Photofacial treatments at a local skin and laser clinic (the Aurora system was used). This reduced the redness and visible capillaries by approximately 90%. Additionally, my skin is must softer and wrinkles are noticeably lessened. I could not be happier! Also, I have changed the supplements I take. Now, I take the following: burdock root (2 pills with each meal, three times per day); Zyflamend (herbal anti-inflammatory supplement); 1000 mg C three times a day; and a multivitamin. Additionally, each day I drink a 'green food' (Green Vibrance which comes in a powdered form). I added this because some doctors believe rosacea can be due to issues with digestive enzymes. I do not use any expensive 'anti-aging' creams or serums on my face, these only seem to irritate the condition. I only use Cetaphil soap to cleanse and a lotion I purchase at American Laser Centers. During the day, I use a SPF 65 (zinc oxide, physical barrier) and reapply it every 3-4 hours. Although this program may not work for others, it has worked wonders for me.
