Homemade Skin Care Recipe: A simply homemade body moisturizer
|
submitted by jeeva chapman, Sydney, Australia
Tip description / details: I have used this moisturising lotion since I raided my father's medicine in my teens. I am 73 now. It is inexpensive and readily available. The recipe is simply glycerine mixed with water and a few drops of your favourite perfume if desired. Important to bear in mind the thinner the mixture the better. it should be absorbed by your skin when you apply it. After a sunburn I have found that applying sunscreen has helped me. When this fails I break an omega3 fishoil capscule and apply it directly to the skin and repeat it whenever the skin feels taut. You need to get the odourless variety.
Ingredients: One part glycerine to 10 parts water; individual requirements may vary -- generally the thinner the better.
How to prepare: Mix the glycerine and water ina bottle. Test the consistency on your skin and adjust the water level.
How to use: After a bath pat your body dry and apply all over.
Results (observed by submitter): My skin is soft and i have no dryness associated with old age. The covered parts of the body are in a better condition than my exposed arms and legs. I never use hot water or soap on my face. I have a few light lines on my forhead and crows feet around my eyes.
Costs involved: $5.00
