Homemade Skin Care Recipe: Natural scrub and exfoliant
|
submitted by Debra Opitz, Oak Lawn, IL USA
Tip description / details: When I visit the Florida beaches I always take a baggie of gulf sand home. When mixed with a little soap, the fine grain sand makes a gentle and invigorating face and total body wash.
Ingredients: White gulf sand and one of the following: Gentle bar soap, glycerin bar soap, or a gentle liquid soap / body wash
How to prepare: There are two ways. Keep a small dish filled with gulf sand and place a wet bar or 1/2 bar of soap on the sand. The sand sticks to the bar and is great for calloused areas or body exfoliation. Another way is to lather up your favorite soap in your hands and add a pinch of sand to the mixture. This works well for the face. The exfoliation process can be adjusted by the amount of sand used. A little for the face and more for calloused areas.
How to use: For face, use the hands to apply mixture to the face. Gently rub to get a feel for the mixture. Gulf sand is surprisingly fine, almost soft feeling. Do not rub too hard on the face. For the body, the hand mixture or the glycerin bar soap with sand will work. Also, the hand mixture works better on the décolleté. Do not use more than twice a week.
Results (observed by submitter): Great skin! It is so easy to use and exfoliate the whole body. When used with a favorite scent it is the best aromatherapy. Plus you can vary the scent whenever you want. Moisturize your skin afterwards.
Costs involved: none
